Luis Lopez-Smith
Luis Lopez Smith is a textile designer, freelance consultant, university lecturer and activist who runs Tottex. Tottex is a co-working facility for textile workers; a space for freelancers to base themselves with access to equipment, resources, materials and a creative community. Luis has created a space that holds his own professional practice and work, alongside supporting grass roots community projects too. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with Luis at the start of his career and we have recently reconnected after a few years. I was keen to hear Luis’ experiences that led establishing his studio and the work he does now. It’s an open, inclusive space with zero tolerance approach to any form of discrimination and champions equity across the board. Hear how Luis has shaped his world to focus on what he loves, what lifts him, keeps him grounded and positively giving his best self.
